The project has been structured to create impacts especially such as:
Daily passenger capacity: approximately 630,000 – 650,000 passengers
Travel time advantage: a 40–50% reduction in travel time between Brasilândia and the city center
Social impact: improved access of low- and middle-income areas to employment, education, and healthcare centers
It is designed to operate in integration with existing Line 1 (Blue) and Line 4 (Yellow). This integration creates a critical backbone that balances load distribution in the São Paulo metro network and reduces excessive congestion in the city center.
The tunnels are being excavated under dense urban fabric using TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) technology; the stations are being built with a combination of deep excavation methods (NATM and cut-and-cover). The depot and maintenance facility are located in the Morro Grande area and have been planned with sufficient capacity to support the full operational sustainability of the line.
When completed, Linha 6-Laranja will be positioned as a strategic transport investment that reduces urban inequality along São Paulo’s north–center axis, makes public transportation more attractive, and lowers road traffic and carbon emissions.
